How Is It Going?
We are in Week 5 of Project You. This is when you stop and check-in to see how things are going.
I can’t say this enough… this is just a time to collect data on how things are progressing or not progressing. This is not the time to beat yourself up.
When you have a destination (or, in this case, a goal), you have to pause periodically to make sure you are on the right path. And, if you are not, you simply course correct.
Be as kind and patient with yourself as your GPS is when you miss the turn. It doesn’t bring up every wrong turn you have ever taken on every trip. It simply recalculates to get you to where you are going.
Actually, it doesn’t bring up any wrong turns or any mistakes you have made in the past. It simply tells you what you need to do to get back on track.
Your brain will bring up “all of your stuff” because it is looking for reasons why you have not succeeded. So when you start the assessment process, begin by asking your brain what has gone right. What have you done that is correct and moves you toward your goal?
And when you are ready to evaluate what didn’t go as planned, use quality questions to help you figure it out. Ask yourself, “Where can I improve?” “What is my next best step?” “What is the opportunity here?”
Be your own best friend during this process. And, if you need another friend for encouragement or to help you with quality questions, schedule a consultation call.
